White Horse Inn
As a "Calvinist," I have been called an extremist by more than one person. I talk on IM to total strangers and mention "predestination" and I'm instantly labeled. I've heard a lot of people (mostly my good friend Lisa- I love you!) ask me, "Are you prepared to be wrong?" Heh, I said I was. But perhaps no one ever really is. Besides, I don't really understand what Calvinism is all about. And if I'm going to call myself one, then I had better find out, huh. So I want to make a formal apology to all those who know me well enough to understand what I'm talking about and are weird enough to read my pages. I should never try to explain or hold to something I can't explain. So- ahhhhhh! I'm diving into research. A lot like my Comp B class. But this is for fun, basically- as in, I'm doing it for me, not to prove Lisa the Dreaded Eldred wrong. Or to get a grade. Perhaps, as trusted advisors, ya'll could read my research and notes and comment on my conclusions. Feedback is mandatory. And I converse so much better with the written word. The truth is out there and I sure as shamrocks want to do my best to figure it out. Heh, on my own strength I doubt I'll get far. But it's worth a try. May God grant understanding. My prayer is that of David's: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24.
Now I have my very own White Horse Inn, but it's not a bar or a coffee house or a church gathering. Fancy that. For those who are clueless, White Horse Inn was a bar where the great theologians back in the days met to discuss, well, theology. Probably people like Jonathan Edwards. The dead guys. At my church, White Horse Inn includes pizza. But we would all fight over pizza toppings since I'm not rich enough to get more than one pie right now, so I think we'll skip lunch. Yeah, sure, we can call it a fast. Anything as long as it's inexpensive.
